SEPANG - “Indonesian racing driver Sean Gelael is quite optimistic ahead of the Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix. He is ready to be Toro Rosso driver at the Free Practice 1 session.
The Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix is scheduled to be held from September 29 to October 1. The FP1 session is due to be held on September 29.
Sean earlier joined the FP1 session time for the first time at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. He is confident to join the FP1 session for the second time at the Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix.
There were many factors in Singapore. It was my first FP1 session. It was a street race. The crew found something on the car. The car was on the pit for about 30 minutes, Sean said.
On the other hand, I am familiar with this track. I have experienced a free practice session in this track. I can focus on the detail in this track, Sean added.
According to him, the track is not that different compared to last year. However, the color is brighter. So, the temperature is more manageable.
The track is not that different. It was darker last year. It was brighter during the track walk. We have not known the effect to the grip. We will see. The track temperature surely will be lower than last year. Darker track mostly will produce higher temperature. We will see tomorrow, Sean said.
The Indonesian racing driver will use Carlos Sainz's car in the FP1 session. The 2017 GP2 champion Pierre Gasly will use Daniil Kvyat's car at the same time.
