R10 Monza - Race Preview

01 September 2018 02:40

MONZA - It's homecoming time for PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing as the FIA Formula 2 Championship is lining up this weekend at Monza for the tenth round of the 2018 season.

There wouldn't be a better place than the high-speed, low-downforce 5.8-kilometer venue for the team to get back on track. After delivering two spectacular feature race wins in the previous rounds at Budapest and Spa-Francorchamps, 23-year-old Nyck De Vries is in search of a brand new chance to close his gap to the main championship contenders.

Expectations are equally high for 21-year-old racer Sean Gelael. The Indonesian impressed at Monza in 2017 by posting a top-5 finish and with one podium to his name this season, he will have good chances to express his full potential. At the Italian Cathedral of Speed, Gelael is determined to give the series' frontrunners a run for their money.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"It is particularly exciting to finally race at your home track after traveling so much throughout the season. It definitely adds a particular flavor although it's obviously not a reason to relax and back down. Actually, Monza is, due to its very nature, a particularly challenging venue where things can change in an instant. The set-up is also very tricky due to the low downforce required and getting it right from practice will require a great effort."
