Sean Struggles with Mechanical and Strategy Problems

Sean Gelael
JEREZ - Pertamina Arden with Jagonya Ayam KFC Indonesia driver Sean Gelael competed in the Formula 2 round in the Jerez circuit in Jerez, Spain on October 7-8, 2017.

Sean finished at P16 during the feature race. He finished in the same position during the sprint race.

Sean's team mate, Norman Nato finishes at P11 during the feature race. He finished one position higher during the sprint race.

Most drivers did not take a pit stop during the sprint race. However, some drivers, including Sean, took a pit stop during the sprint race.

“Sean chose this strategy to avoid tire degradation. He used old soft tire set in the start of the race. He used new medium tire set after the pit stop. If we had chosen new premium tire set during the start, he would have last less than 29 laps. If we had forced that, he would have had worse performance, Pertamina Arden engineer Manuel Alboy said.

Nato currently is 9th in the Drivers Championship Standings. Meanwhiel, Sean currently is 15th in the latest standings.

The round was very frustating. We have experienced technical issues since qualifying session. We cannot apply best strategies in the main session.

Nato and Sean will compete in the last Formula 2 round in Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in November. This year’s Formula 2 season has been won by Charles LeClerc from Monaco.
