Sakhir - Formula 2 drivers are highly motivated ahead of the start of the season at Sakhir circuit this weekend.
This season, seven rookies will debut in the formula 1 feeder series. 13 other drivers will join the successor of GP2 series.
This year, the tournament will be divided into 12 rounds. The competition will be contested by 10 teams. Sean Gelael will join Prema Racing this season. The Indonesian will partner Nyck de Vries from the Netherlands.
It is Sean's third full year in Formula 2. He is Prema's first driver from Asia.
Prema boss Rene Rosin wants to repeat good performances in the previous two seasons. Nevertheless, the team have to adapt with new regulations this season. For example, the team have to use halo as the new safety device.
"The car will be 50 kilogram heavier. The tires will work harder," Rene said.
During pre-season, Sean showed his maturity. He performed better than his team mate.
"Of course we will try our best," Sean said.
With Prema, Sean wants to significantly improve his skills. He has learned a lot in his previous teams, Campos and Arden.
This season, Russian Time driver Artem Markelov is the main favorite. F3 Europe champion Lando Norris and GP3 champion George Russell are potential rookies. In addition, De Vries, Luca Ghiotto and Nicholas Latifi have a lot of experience. Furthermore, Sean can be a surprise challenger.
