Sakhir: Indonesian F2 driver Sean Gelael had an impressive performance in the first feature race of the 2018 season at Sakhir Circuit on Saturday.
Starting from P19, the Prema Racing driver completed the race in P7. He left the race with six points.
Throughout the race, the 21-year-old driver consistently managed his car. He brilliantly executed the team's game plan.
Waiting for the right time, Sean finally got a momentum after the pit-stop. He then improved his position before reaching the top ten.
Sean's team mate, Nyck De Vries, failed to reach the top three. He was in P4 at the start of the race. He was down two positions at the end of the race.
"The race was not easy. I calmly waited for the best momentum. P7 was a good result. Hopefully I can have a better second race," Sean said.
The race was won by Carlin driver Lando Norris. The runner up position was talen by another Carlin driver Sergio Sette Camara. The last podium place was grabbed by Russian Time driver Artem Markelov.
The race was held under a clear sky. It was completed without any big incident. Roberto Merhi was forced to retire due to technical problem.
With this result, Sean will start from the front row in the sprint race. His team mate will start from P3 this time.
