Austin – Indonesian racing driver Sean Gelael showed an improved performance during the Free Practice 1 (FP1) session in the Formula 1 (F1) grand prix in Austin, United States on October 20, 2017.
The Formula 2 driver tried the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). He used Scuderia Toro Rosso STR12 car.
The Pertamina Arden with Jagonya Ayam KFC Indonesia driver recorded a best lap time of 1:40.406 in the free practice session. He reached the 17th position in the final clasification.
Sean was ranked higher than the current Formula 2 leader Charles Leclerc. He was trailed by less than a second against the other Toro Rosso driver Brendon Hartley
Sean was highly appreciated by Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost after the FP1 session. Sean was also appreciated by the team in Singapore and Malaysia.
“We were very satisfied with Sean’s performance. It was a huge improvement for Sean. He can increase competitiveness since Singapore,” Tost said.
Sean will also join the FP1 Session in the Mexican Grand Prix on October 27. He will join the FP1 Session for the last time for this season
“In Mexico, I hope he can equalize his team mate, “ Tost said.
